Specialist Programs
We encourage our students to seize opportunities and thrive. This is why we provide a number of specialist programs for students who wish to extend their skillsets as they prepare for life beyond their schooling years.
GIFTED & TALENTED | Give your child the challenges they need to thrive. Applications for Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Entrance Programs are now open. For children with exceptional academic ability and creative talent, these academic, arts and languages programs are designed to challenge them to achieve at the highest level. If your child is going into Year 6 in 2018, applications are now open for entry into Year 7 in 2019. Limited places may also be available for children going into Years 9, 10 and 11 in 2019. Applications close Sunday, 11 February 2018. For more information and to apply visit education.wa.edu.au/giftedandtalented.
PEAC | Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) is a centrally supported supplementary program. PEAC caters to the special learning needs of gifted and talented students in Years 5 and 6. PEAC centres offer a wide range of extension courses as well as specialist courses in a variety of community and educational settings.
CODERDOJO | Years four to six students are welcome to come to the East Kenwick Primary School Coderdojo Club on Wednesdays at lunchtime to further develop their coding skills. Students who attend will become ninjas, and will be working on their own coding projects in a fun environment. We have had some students volunteer to be mentors, a great opportunity to develop their leadership skills. Students will also be earning badges as they reach milestones in their attendance and abilities. Click here to learn more about Coderdojo.
